Lockdown Cooking 🍳Caramalized Onion Tart
This is such a delicious recipe and super easy to make – even for those of you that never cook, but are now forced to due to lockdown! Check out the recipe below:
- 2 sheets frozen puff pastry
- 20g butter 20 grams butter
- 1 tbs white vinegar
- 4 large brown onions
- 200g feta
- 1 tbs olive oil
- 1 bunch thyme
- 1 tbs brown sugar
Step 1 | Preheat oven to 200°C. Thinly slice 4 large brown onions. Melt 20g butter and 1 tbs olive oil in a large, deep frying pan over medium low heat. Add onion and cook, occasionally stirring, for 25 minutes or until onion turns a rich golden colour.
Step 2 | Add 1 tbs brown sugar, 1 tbs vinegar (brown, white or balsamic), salt and pepper. Stir until combined and cook for 1 minute or until vinegar has evaporated.
Step 3 | Join 2 sheets frozen puff pastry together, then trim to a 20x32cm rectangle. Mark a 2cm-wide border around the edge and prick centre with a fork. Bake for 15 minutes. Spread with onion and top with crumbled feta and thyme sprigs. Bake for 15 minutes or until golden.
